You have built a career on the tools. You know your trade inside-out. You have mentored apprentices, explained jobs to new team members, and maybe even run toolbox talks.

But what if you could take those years of hard-earned skills and turn them into a new career, one that lets you pass on your knowledge, stay in your industry, and maybe even give your back and knees a well-earned break?

That’s exactly what becoming a qualified trainer and assessor can do for you. And the first step? Completing the TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment the industry-required qualification that allows you to deliver and assess nationally recognised training.

Why So Many Tradies Are Making the Move
Here’s what’s driving the shift from the worksite to the training room:
• Flexibility – choose casual, part-time, or full-time training roles.
• Stay connected to your trade while reducing physical strain.
• Higher earning potential with the right qualifications.
• Personal satisfaction from shaping the next generation of skilled workers.

If you’ve ever thought, “I’d love to teach what I know” – you’re not alone.

Do You Need the TAE40122?
Short answer: yes.

This qualification isn’t about teaching you your trade, you’ve already mastered that. Instead, it gives you the skills to:
• Train adults effectively.
• Create useful training resources.
• Assess competency fairly and according to national standards.
• Meet compliance requirements for registered training organisations (RTOs).
