The program is organised into four workshop blocks, allowing you to choose the pathway that best matches your training and assessment goals.

TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment Gold Coast workshop pathways: Block 1 Assessor Skill Set (4 days), Block 2 VET Practice and Training Design (3 days), Block 3 Training Delivery and Workplace Practice (3 days), Block 4 Foundation Skills Integration (optional, 3 days).

What you will learn

You will develop the practical skills to:
  • interpret nationally recognised training products and select appropriate units and qualifications
  • understand and participate in pre- and post-assessment validation
  • plan and prepare competency-based assessments
  • conduct assessment, including Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
  • collect and evaluate evidence, make assessment decisions and provide feedback.

Block 2 · 3 days

VET Practice and Training Design

Units

TAEPDD401 Work effectively in the VET sector
BSBAUD412 Work within compliance frameworks
TAEDES412 Design and develop plans for vocational training

What you will learn

You will develop the skills to:
  • understand how the VET sector operates and your responsibilities as a trainer and assessor
  • work within RTO policies, procedures and compliance requirements
  • maintain your vocational, training and assessment and digital currency
  • analyse learner needs and nationally recognised training products
  • design structured learning programs, session plans and supporting resources.
Block 3 · 3 days

Training Delivery and Workplace Practice

TAEDEL412 Facilitate workplace-based learning
TAEDEL414 Mentor in the workplace

What you will learn

You will develop the practical skills to:
  • plan and facilitate engaging vocational training
  • deliver training to groups and individual learners
  • demonstrate and teach workplace skills
  • support, coach and monitor learner progress
  • plan and facilitate workplace-based learning
  • provide effective workplace mentoring and feedback.

Choose your finishing pathway

After Block 3, you can choose how you would like to complete your TAE40122.

Option 1 · Blocks 1–3 · 10 days

Standard TAE40122 Pathway

Finish at the end of Block 3. In this pathway, BSBAUD412 Work within compliance frameworks, BSBTWK401 Build and maintain business relationships, and BSBHRM413 Support the learning and development of teams and individuals are integrated across the program and assessed through the work you complete in the other TAE units.

No additional workshop block is required.

Option 2 · Blocks 1–4 · 13 days

Foundation Skills Pathway

Instead of completing the three BSB electives above, continue to Block 4 and complete:

TAELLN421 Integrate core skills support into training and assessment
TAELLN422 Use foundation skills resources, strategies and advice
TAELLN423 Integrate employability skills support into training and assessment

This pathway may be particularly useful if you plan to deliver Certificate II or lower-level qualifications, or work with learners who may need greater support with core skills and employability skills. The three LLN units replace BSBAUD412, BSBTWK401 and BSBHRM413 within this pathway.

Both pathways lead to the TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment once all required units and assessment requirements have been successfully completed.

Block 4 · 3 days · Optional

Foundation Skills Integration

Integrating foundation skills support into vocational training and assessment.

TAELLN423 Integrate employability skills support into training and assessment

What you will learn

You will develop the skills to:
  • identify the foundation skill demands of training and assessment
  • recognise learner foundation skill needs and gaps
  • select appropriate support strategies, resources and referral options
  • integrate core and employability skills into vocational training
  • adapt learning and assessment activities to support learner needs
  • deliver and review foundation skills support within your training practice.

Before you enrol

For the full TAE40122 qualification, you must be able to demonstrate vocational competence in the area in which you intend to train and assess. We will speak with you before enrolment, review your background and confirm the pathway, practical requirements and any credit transfer or elective considerations.

Practical assessment

These are practical workshops. Depending on your enrolment, you may take part in training delivery, assessment, validation, workplace learning, mentoring and Foundation Skills activities. Some preparation, knowledge questions, research and assessment records will be completed outside workshop hours. Bring a laptop and complete any issued pre-work before attending.
