We’re thrilled to share the inspiring journey of Julia, a dedicated learner who embarked on a transformative experience with Healthy Business Training Academy (HBTA). Born and raised in Russia, Julia’s story is a testament to the power of education, resilience, and the exceptional learning environment fostered by HBTA.
A Cross-Continental Leap
Julia’s experience with vocational education and training began in Russia, where she spent her whole life until three and a half years ago when she made the life-changing decision to move to Australia. Armed with a background in E-Learning Coordination for the Government Department of Education in Russia, Julia brought a wealth of experience to her new chapter down under.
Bridging Language Barriers
Despite having studied English in Russia, Julia faced the stark reality that learning and speaking a language in a classroom setting vastly differs from navigating the challenges of communication, even studying!, in a foreign land. Determined not to let the language barrier become a significant obstacle, Julia was able to find work in the VET sector in Melbourne as an LMS Administration Officer for a local training organisation. Despite enjoying her role, her passion lies in Learning Development and Design and her employer agreed to put her through the TAE50216 Diploma of Training Design and Development.
Julia said that initially she was concerned about studying a course in English but found that HBTA’s Learning Management System (LMS) made the whole experience easier.
Julia noted, “Learning in a Russian classroom and speaking in Australia are totally different. The LMS at HBTA allowed me to go through the material in English, then translate it into Russian to ensure I completely understood everything correctly and also that I didn’t miss anything.
It made the whole learning process more efficient and accessible.
In the past, I used Google Translate to help me read things in English and the LMS meant I didn’t have to do any of that.”
A Passion for Learning Development
While working through the TAE50216 Diploma of Training Design and Development, Julia discovered the qualification required a perfect blend of applying existing knowledge and acquiring new skills. Her background in developing training programs in Russia seamlessly complemented the curriculum at HBTA.
“The course challenged me to seek knowledge beyond the information supplied in the Learner Guide, encouraging me to dig deeper. I appreciated the mix of theory and practical application,” Julia shared.
Crystal Clear Guidance
One of the standout features of HBTA, according to Julia, was the clarity in instruction, especially regarding assessments. Navigating a new language and educational system, she found comfort in the fact that she always knew what was expected of her.
“I always knew what I had to do, and that clarity was important, especially given English is not my first language. I didn’t have to constantly ask my trainer what to do. And that saved me a lot of time. Carey, my trainer, was there when I needed her, providing guidance that was instrumental to my success,” she emphasized.
A Supportive Learning Community
Julia acknowledged the importance of a supportive learning community, highlighting that some of her peers who studied elsewhere faced confusion and a lack of guidance.
“I have friends and colleagues who studied elsewhere and have complained to me about not knowing what to do for their assessments and being very confused. They were always asking for help from their trainers because the expectations and requirements were not clear. This was not my experience, Julia continued.
“Carey was there to support me with concepts I found challenging in the course. This type of learning is presented very differently in Russia.
‘Carey was an inspiring trainer who helped me realise what I could achieve professionally with this qualification. I believe that is how I was able to complete my training so quickly. HBTA was a wonderful choice for me and I will choose them again and again,’ she said.
Future Endeavors
Currently residing in Melbourne and working in the VET sector as an LMS Administration Officer, Julia is eager to apply her newfound knowledge in Learning Development and Design. Her passion, coupled with the exceptional training received at HBTA, positions her for continued success in her chosen field.
Julia’s journey exemplifies the transformative power of quality education, a supportive learning environment, and the pursuit of one’s passion. As she looks forward to further studies with HBTA, we celebrate her accomplishments and the thriving community that is the essence of Healthy Business Training Academy.
